I had knee surgery in 1979 and was in the hospital when the Eagles game rolled around that week. A friend of mine picked me up at the hospital and we went directly to the Eagles playoff game against the Bears.My mother found out about my little escapade a few days later. She was so mad, she wouldn't talk to me for weeks! But none of that mattered. For a little while, I was out of my hospital bed and sitting in my favorite seat – my seat at Veterans Stadium.
