I was eight years old when I first auditioned to sing the National Anthem for the Eagles. Of the 500+ people who tried out, I made the final 25! I was invited back for the final competition where the Eagles would choose three lucky performers. I was so excited the day of the finals. Too excited. Singing a cappella, I started too high. When I reached the highest notes of the Anthem, I couldn't hit them and I just stopped. I left the Vet that day in tears. I knew I could do a better job and I vowed to be back.
